i dont understand its been 2 years why dont they just give up on the merge for now and start putting out updates and just keep the weeky merge shit for now and when the game is finished then try to merge it and clean it up?

That is what is supposedly happening right now. Bluecat has went with Plan B which is forget the merge right now and start releasing new content, but the new excuse is he can't find a translator. Take everything he says with a supertankers worth of salt after all the lies.

1. Ecchi Sensei grows bigger, better and more sentient by the second. One of the new sub menus recently broke away from the game and became the dictator of a small Asian country. All hail President Stat Menu! This game cannot be stopped.

2. Ecchi Sensei has recently secured the agreement of Steven Spilberg to direct the forthcoming Ecchi Sensei movie. This game cannot be stopped.

3. Ecchi Sensei no longer needs a translator. Ecchi Sensei has become it's own language, spoken with joy by beings from every known galaxy. This game cannot be stopped.

4. Ecchi Sensei recently acquired the streaming company Netflix. All Neflix programming will henceforth be the currently in production Ecchi Sensei TV show, starring Ben Affleck as every single charactor. This game cannot be stopped.

5. Ecchi Sensei has recently released it's own crypto currency, BlooBucks. It is now the dominant global economy. This game cannot be stopped.

6. The new update of the game will allow it to be transmitted directly into the users brain, eliminating the need for a merge. This game cannot be stopped.

7. Ecchi Sensei was recently voted "Most Likely Adult VN To End World Hunger" and has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, a Michelin Star and several Automobile awards. This game cannot be stopped.

8. Ecchi Sensei is currently dominating the Winter Olympics, winning gold in every available event and also in several sports that have not even been invented yet. This game cannot be stopped.

9. Ecchi Sensei is not only the largest, most highly respected VN ever produced, it is also the the most highly acclaimed work of humankind. It is taught in schools worldwide and is set to become the the pre-eminent religion on planet Earth. This game cannot be stopped.

Progress is being made apparently. Although I think 99% of people have developed an immunity to delusional fairy tails

But I don't see the thread dying. It's already outlived the game. Whenever I read anything from skummy, I hear this song on repeat and I imagine him serenading bluecat like a pair of sweet lovers in the night

Man i had to format my hard disk drive approximately on August and forgot to backup the RenPy folder, totally my fault. I've been trying to delay to play this game as much as possible cause with my luck i know week 4 will be released as soon as i start playing it but holy. Its been what, 1 year and a half already since last update? Kinda sus. (Honestly im not reading the 100 previous pages to see what happened or whats the current state of the update )

I guess its time to download every week and play again since i have nothing better to do and im up to date on the majority of other games...

Same thing happened to me at the start of 2020. I was playing one of the new releases at the time, then my computer crashed. I don't tend to backup my porn folders so lost my save and didn't feel like starting over at the time. A few months later I saw they were working on a merge so I just waited. Still waiting because if this merge ever comes out I'll be needing to restart it anyway. That's best case scenario. If this game is dead then I also don't want to restart it just to see the last few days of a game that's never going to get another installment.

The current best case scenario is that they find a new translator(because 18 months was clearly not enough time for the dev to improve his language skills enough to only need someone to polish text; or find a translator and slowly get them up to speed) and go back to releasing stand-alone days for the forseeable future.

The merge has been shelved and it's very likely that when they do start working on it again, they'll start from scratch.

So, even if they do start releasing content soon(relatively speaking), you still have year-long delays to look forward to with the next merge, or whenever they decide to implement the character cards, or journal or calendar or whatever other minor mechanics they introduce that turn into the Enigma fucking code, somehow.

If they somehow get back on schedule, I look forward to seeing them announce how all the work put in allows them to do the merge faster, almost like it would be possible to do in the same day....*ahem*..

To be honest though, merges should be scrapped. They should just continually update the same project and release that otherwise they're just making more (proven to be minor) work for themselves. I'm sure you could still even release smaller content updates as a bunch of files you paste over the game you have if they wanted to give that option so you aren't redownloading the whole thing each time, the days scripts & images are already separated into other folders and I'm sure just altering that logic so the end of a script has a goto method that sends it to an end-check-or-credits file that would be super small so it can them bounce it onto the newly added days instead of replacing the whole days previous script to let it go to the next new day.

But who knows, they need to actually do some work first.
