Thanks, this actually worked - was able to add dialogue to a character without any. Trying to parse code is hard enough, doing it in Japanese is even worse lol.

Via debug mode I was able to remove the character in question, then add them back into my roster which seems to have effected the changes. But the changes weren't applied until I did this. Is there any way to carry through changes without deleting and reintroducing a character?
I'd be interested to hear more about what files you altered to make it work! Just out of curiosity about how this all fits together.

If closing and reloading doesn't load the changes, then I expect you want to use the Reload Folder/Reload File options under the top-left File menu. Reload File prompts for an ERB file, so that seems the correct direction to go.

More or less just following those instructions.

- found the CSV file for the relevant character with a search for their ID, derived from the debug menu (you could probably also search their name or a fragment of their description if either of those are in English, or the Japanese characters for their name)

- looked through that CSV to find the relevant line of code for the dialogue set that character uses, I found the right code by comparing the CSV against the "build your own waifu" txt file bundled with the game to see which symbols about matched up, as that gives example code for assigning dialogues

- replaced whatever set it referenced (it was blank iirc) with a number pointing to one of the semi-generic dialogue sets, again derived from the list in the BYO waifu file

Since it's a CSV I couldn't target it with the reload file option so I just re-recruited that character. I expect you could probably edit it to use one of the more specialised dialogues too but that's beyond my capacity. I don't know how the game sets up the "choose one from this set of 3 dialogues" options but that could be interesting to fuck with.

I'd also like to see if translating bits of the generic dialogue is picked up or if that would require characters to be re-recruited too.

Ah, that explains why I didn't find the right files in my quick searches, I was looking in the ERB directories. And I even looked through the CSVs before for something else.

I think the ERBs contain the actual dialogue, and the CSVs determine which dialogue a character uses (among other things).

Am I misunderstanding the soldiers/city defense system? Why does pressing "Auto Defense" lower my total troop count? If I press "Auto Defense" multiple times during the war turn I can lower my total troop count by about 10k and they seem to just disappear entirely.

Are they actually fully disappearing or are they being assigned to cities?

No, I can be enabled from the start

Also the Japs implemented their end too, hope it's not behind such a cock and ball torture achievement

Thanks, found it. Y mean they officially put more lovers in the game, not as a mod?

Does anybody know if there are events that happens only when you play as certain characters? like, as far as i know picking a character locks all of their events to happen, but what if there is also events that play only when you play as them?
