The game is linear with some self-returning branches. Even if you don't romance a single girl, the 0.7 ending happens.

On another note, has Cari mentioned anything about diverging paths going forward? As much as I like the game, I didn't really enjoy having to choose between the werewolves or vampires side of the story. I really like Luna, and the werewolves are much better characters and the path in general is better, but I really liked the interations with Penny in the vampire story much more. The "She is not my wife, yet" and the dance were really cute.

One thing I am thinking about lately is whether the game has to many LIs. Before you slaughter me, hear me out. Of course it's nearly impossible to choose 1 or even 2 LIs to remove, now that we all got to know and love all of them. But I think things would be different if there were only 6 LIs to begin with.
I was thinking, the game was released in September 21, nearly three years ago. Considering the development time of 0.1 aswell, we are over 3 years in now. And still, half of the girls don't even have their first full sex scene, no girl had more than 1. Even if you take 0.8 into account, chances are high that at least 1 or 2 girls (Luna / Caly?) still won't have their first full sex scene. If you are a Nancy fan, you had to wait like 20-22 months between her last scene in 0.5 and her next scene in 0.8 (probably). But even if you don't look at the sex scenes but only screen time, in my opinion 8 LIs is just to much. Considering you need 3 hours for an update (my reading speed), you have 23 min for each girl every 7-8 month. And that calculaton is not considering the screen time of other characters like chang or the founder or Orion being alone taking some time aswell.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about the time between updates. Quality needs time and I prefer having insane quality in every single aspect over having more updates. But this is just another reason to focus on less LIs. At 0.7, with 6 girls, every girl could have a scene more by now, while maintaining the same quality.
Again, I am not talking about removing some girls now, I am thinking about how the game would be if there were only 6 LIs from the start (or in Caris game after Eternum). Because you can't miss them if they never existed in the first place

So finally got around to playing the update. Luna and Nova are still tied for number 1 but damn, the other characters just keep looking better and better. Especially Dalia ... fuuuuuuuuck.
Only thing missing from the Nova scene was just diving head first between those cheeks. A missed opportunity for us more cultured gentlemen.

I think the point of having a larger cast for these VNs is to essentially spread a wider net. A lot of people end up only playing for one or two LIs and basically eggs them on to stick around long enough for an update with them. Although, while it'd be hard to choose between Luna and Nova I also think the other characters are looking hotter with each update and I don't mind as much when their turns come up.
Point is, I think only having 6 LIs would have been fine for Eternum. Everyone has their favorites but I could see most people even enjoying LIs who aren't their favorites. But I can't say who I would've wanted removed from the outset since I don't know what never happened. Like you said, "you can't miss them if they never existed in the first place".
That being said, if neither Luna nor Nova were in this game I honestly don't think Eternum would've left such a large, lasting impression on me. The same could probably be said for someone who favors Alex, Nancy, etc. the most. Therefore, I think the variety of LIs is part of what helped this game continue its momentum. It's a crazy, fun premise and is done really well but the LIs I like are definitely what keeps me coming back. Of course, I like all the LIs now but probably wouldn't have had the patience to let them warm up to me/improve/pay off if the proverbial carrot wasn't being waved in front of my face that carrot being Luna and Nova.
Even at this point, I'm finding myself continuing to play for the relationship-side of the story rather than the main story itself. There are also just some dialogue lines where I think, "Oof, corny" but as soon as I see one of my more favored LIs, it makes it all worth it.

As of right now, it's too late for Eternum to remove any LIs, but a smaller roster should be something that Cari should consider doing in the next game IMO (although there's a chance that he just goes with the same number again because eff the haterz he survived Eternum so he'll definitely survive another game with a large harem

I will have to replay the game with a bit of calm later tho, so I can absorb the information better. I got so gripped by the game that I finished it in one sitting, without even sleeping, so some stuff might have gone over my head.

I like all girls in the game, including Idriel. But... I actually don't really care which girl is now first in the line for MC's dick. The only think I wait for is how the story will continue after that cliffhanger... and all cliffhangers in future. Being shot and left to die is harsh enough. But I think the lesson would have been even more impactful if one of the girls had gone through this instead because of our arrogance. Could you imagine seeing Nova collapse to the ground and us trying desperately to stop her bleeding? I would have cared a lot more about that.Perhaps a dual dose of humility for Orion & Caly at the same time?

But Orion has gotten waaaaayyyy too cocky about his abilities and his romantic interludes, And Caly imo is just a little girl who is a complete snob to anyone around her especially to Orion.
