True if dev had been open from the start about the intentions with the game and where it focuses, but in games where the dev garners support for his game based upon expectations he makes players and supporters have during production, that changes the equation and what people rightfully expect.

If want to do that be open from start about fact that good part of game will be about those themes or deliver a really finished game where people know what they get when they buy into it, not suddenly add it in update 8-102 and change whole nature of the game that for a big part was made with the support of people expecting something different based upon what was delivered before without any warning from dev he had other intentions.

Edit: To be clear the above would be just as valid if a dev decided to promote a game as a NTR focused game or made such a game in practice without promotion and suddenly without warning after two years would remove any further NTR from game and it would become all or mainly about MC fucking the ladies from that point on. Then those that supported a NTR focused game would also have every right to be annoyed and disappointed or even lose further trust in that dev for rest of his career. It is about breaking trust by a dev of an explicit or implicit promise he gave his supporters.

Fact the dislike of the genre by those who do not like it is way bigger on the whole as the dislike of those who like the genre of an MC having sex makes it not that strange though those voices are even louder when suddenly include abusive other dick in a game that was not about that, but same happens with other more divisive themes like extreme dom (male or fem) and even when a dev just changes whole tone of game without changing fetishes per se. It is not like you add one anal scene or footjob scene later in development, but something quite a few people really hate instead of are indifferent about at worst.

If users don't complain about grinding, a lot of people will waste their time in a game that isn't for them.
The same goes for any porn content. If you are going to have rape, ntr, voyeurism, incest, gay, futa, scat, male, female or multiple protagonist, DEV chooses his game audience.

When DEV avoids spoilers about game content, players certainly won't be silent. Either you accept it or "shut your mouth" or try to tell others to shut up.

Even when a DEV does everything right and writes on the overview that dad is dead, there's always someone to complain about "another dead father".

For you, complaints about sandbox or game mechanics can be different, but I've seen dozens of players who love sandbox as upset as you when other players complain about sandbox, grind.
If you can't live with different opinions, you will always complain about everyone who has a different opinion here on the forum.

But you've been a member for years and you've probably understood that the threads where the DEV clarifies the type of content it's going to create are the threads with the fewest complaints. There are still some complaints on all topics, but when the DEV is clear about the content, the complaint is much smaller. Better for the DEVs. Better for the players. Better for all.

For example, I like incest. But I understand that it's a fetish that should be clear from the start, because many will complain about incest if it's only added after 2 years... If in BaD Dr Pinkcake add incest, he will be burned alive by those who don't like incest. And even though I like incest, I'd say it would be a terrible addition to his fan base.
There are a lot of fetishes that it's better for everyone if the DEV clears it up from the start. Try to Understand that not everyone has the same fetish as you.

If he came on here it would be different if people were giving him constructive feedback about it. But that is not the case, it's just been an off and on circle jerk with mass post deletions from people bandwagonning onto the hatefest. That's died down to just a smattering of people bringing it up again once in a while even though it's been a non-issue for months due to changes the dev made himself. There's no nuanced discussion. Sure that may affect their ability to gain financial support, but there is no regulatory apparatus stating that they have to do so whether people would like it or not. I've seen people attack devs for not having a target audience but that does not mean that they have a right to attack devs based on the rules of the forum and not being a crappy human being. The prerogative is not on a dev to anticipate how people will react to their work of fiction, they only have to execute their vision and if that incorporates feedback, fine; if not also fine.

People do have an obligation to follow the forum rules if they want to participate, and I'm not saying the person who the guy who said "shut you mouth" quoted was breaking any rules, and also looking at the post they quoted I'm not sure why they felt the need to resurrect that post from almost a year ago when the thread was moving onto translation discussions, but fetish bashing discussions tend to invite rule-breaking and derailing posts.

Some people hated how Mass Effect 3 ended, but as it was released as a finished product it existed according to the vision of the developers. This indie adult space has given people a sense that they're ordering from a McDonald's and not consuming someone's artistic output. Also criticism about Mass Effect was around how decision making by the player was obviated by the ending not the fact that you could make your character any gender you wanted or have them be gay or something. It was not based on arbitrary preferences that no two people might share.

Sure most people are here to get off but if people couldn't invoke emotions that made some people upset in works of fiction everything would be Barney (that's a children's show about a magic purple talking dinosaur that comes to life from a toy and spreads joy and happiness, for people who are unfamiliar. It's also extremely boring).

I have stuff that I like but I'll also play through stuff I don't like for the story so maybe my appreciation of different story types affects my understanding but I don't like when people want to impose their desires onto other people...
