i have said you do not need to worry that there will be some "unknown" stuff just dropped in compressed versions
And what I said clearly explain that it's NOT why I worry. I hope that we can still expect the games downloaded here to be safe and to not have "unknown stuff".
But the fact is that I never talked about "unknown stuff", I talked about the lack of respect for the games and their authors. The issue is that you are altering the game to impose your own personal taste ; this in total disrespect of the author of the games and the players.
Even if you were the guarantor of good taste, or a world class reference in game design, you still wouldn't had the rights to decide in place of the game author, nor to force your own taste on us.
It's up to us, the players, to decide how we want our dialog box, and up to us only.
- all things are pretty much transparently done...as that penfolds mod used (and yep, perhaps he is outdated, yet in 99% of games I play it works just fine).
And on what criteria do you judge if it works just fine exactly ?
Do you have all the form of color blindness, in top of a dyslexia and a really bad eyesight inducing blurriness whatever the correction of your glasses ? And I don't talk about the many others problems, directly related to the eyesight or not, that can interfere here. Do you have all the software needed to simulate all this, and play the game using all of them ?
I really doubt about this, and therefore you aren't in position to judge if the addition of Penfold mole's mod "works just fine" or not.
The only thing you can say is that, to your knowledge and to it only, it don't seem to break the game. Yet, Penfold Mole haven't made so many updates just for the pleasure. So, even this isn't always true, especially since you use an really outdated version of the mod.
What you do is altering the game, a small alteration yes, but an alteration that, for some persons, can turn a good game into a shitty one.
This just because what was a clearly readable text over a background designed to offer the better possible readability to as many people as possible, is now an unreadable piece of shit for some of the players. And this, just because you personally think that it's better this way...
What you do is also a lack of respect for the game authors.
Some of them pass days to design their game interface, to make it pretty, to integrate the dialog box into the whole thing, to define a transparency level that will really add something into the game. Days to offer the liberty of choice to the player, to let them decide what level of transparency they want, if they want one. Days to center their CG in such way that the said dialog box will hide nothing significant or interesting, while still adding a little something to the whole picture.
And then you come, and put the mod inside because you decided on your own that it's should be like this, dot.
There's only on way to describe such attitude, and it's "total lack of respect".
But still, you are right on one point. There's no need to continue this debate. If you were mature enough to understand the problem, you wouldn't have caused it in the first place.
