I would have been surprised if he was considering your rules, but it would have been a wonderfully wicked twist if you had given some incredibly subtle hints that the one persons thoughts we thought we could trust might be false.

I particularly like the first theory. I don't think the MC is part of the plan though. If he was, I would expect her to treat her brother differently. Kelly's actions so far have only raised suspicions. Undermining her brother's trust seems hardly a good idea if he is to be an important ally in the scheme. I suspect there are multiple sides playing the game.
