VN Ren'Py Leaving DNA [Ep. 4.3a] [Impious Monk]

Alright, so I finished my very first playthrough of this. It's a good game with a good story. Actually, great game/story even. But man, did I get a good dose of depression while playing it. I already tend to have low sanity. But this game made it go rock bottom real quick. MC is definitely stronger than me though. I would've been gave up before most of the events started to unravel. Legitimately, would've said fuck majority of this dad shit and kept my life going.

As for the story. It was a lot to digest in a first playthrough, so I won't go too heavily into it until a few more. However, I will comment on the love interests a tiny bit. So there's only 4, if I'm understanding correctly. Now, I'm just going to say it. I don't really feel too strongly for most of them beyond Aghavni. At least with the current content. With MC's luck, it feels justified. Looking at Jamie here.

It's definitely a me thing though as I'm sure people love the others. However, Jamie is the golden prodigal child that's "perfect", which actually made me not want her. The shipping all of his friends kept insisting on actually was a bit of a turn off too. She also has her big path in life and it's a bit of a weird mix to try to hold her back from it. So for me, I rather let her pursue her dreams without selfishly interfering. If that ends her path, so be it. I'm not going to make her stay.


Then there's Emmeline who has a lot of baggage like MC. She felt a bit forced in the interaction department early on. But, I would say I like her. The ending though, I didn't see that coming, even though I knew there would be an incest twist, because of the tag. Afterwards, it's Malena, who I probably have the least amount of interest in. Her craziness isn't the hot kind. It's the broken kind and I don't think it's smart to try to start a romantic relationship with her like that. Friendship? Sure. But just like with Jamie, I don't really want to mix with it.

So yeah, story so far is good to great. Aghavni is currently my favorite love interest. After her would be Emmeline. Then it's Jamie, who I started losing steam for as the game progressed. And after her is Malena. I'll definitely be going back to play through the story and have to dedicate some focus to the other paths to get a deeper look. Playing the game in one sitting was probably a bad idea though with how much content it had. It had me in a chokehold for hours, and I couldn't stop playing.

Anyway, I look forward to the next update. I'll eventually get all of the other girls playthroughs sorted and try the alone route. I'll decide on my main playthrough when I get these done.

BTW, the tag you mentioned only got added AFTER epi 4 (and it's cliffhanger) dropped. Thus, the cliffhanger was a real shock for those that played epi 4 as an update.

I could see that. When I downloaded this like two days ago, the tag was already there. So while playing I was expecting an incest twist somewhere. Even when MC met his "sister" I still was waiting for it to show. I admittedly thought it was going to be Jamie. Mostly because of how it was set up about how her family chose to help him and such.

Then, I was surprised when it didn't happened and figured I was not on that path. Up until the ending came around.

Yeah Aghavni started out as my least favorite of the bunch (and jamie still is my fav li) but so far Aghavni really seems to be the most fitting LI and the only one without dozens ostacles towards a relationship and shes my number 2 at this point.

Even his "flaws" relationship wise like being a workaholic works well together with her as shes easily positively affected by his drive as was shown when he just appeared at her apparment in the middle of the night to brainstorm stuff about the case lol

And she already knows/is used about his intimacy troubles and will appreciate his little baby steps towards getting better way more than most gals.

He could stay a workahollic and it could work, he could even become senator, shes encouraging about that too but probably wouldnt mind him stepping back if he wants that.

It seems so far like the most mature and healthy relationship

I could see that. When I downloaded this like two days ago, the tag was already there. So while playing I was expecting an incest twist somewhere. Even when MC met his "sister" I still was waiting for it to show. I admittedly thought it was going to be Jamie. Mostly because of how it was set up about how her family chose to help him and such.

Why do you think it's "fan service" and "pandering" to "that" crowd? The impression I get is that Impious Monk has had this eight-episode story mapped out since the beginning; he didn't just decide on a whim to throw it in there.

Yeah, I think Aghavni has been the safe bet so far, 'cause Impious Monk has found ways to put barriers between Rockford and the other LIs up to the end of epi 4 (Jamie: career over unrequited love / Emmeline: we all know what : ) / Malena: her dark past & her current profession - I think there might be some nasty revelations coming up there)

Anyone is welcome to criticize my story as being badly written, but I am bothered by comments that suggest I was trying to appeal to a particular fetish. I don't think anything about the story up until this point suggests that, and in fact suggests the opposite.

Unfortunately, the ending of Episode Four has not been understood in the way I intended it to be. It's intended to be a dark story beat, an emotional gut punch for the MC and the player. I wrote six pages on this for my supporters but I'll give a brief TLDR:
