My first thought on the best-written character is Belle. But I think that may be partly a consequence of being the "sidekick" to the protagonist. She's always there and had more time to be fleshed out.

I feel it's Primrose. The aura of mystery, her love for books, her restrained handling...heck, it's turning me tf on. She's my kinda girl, me being quiet and a bookworm myself. Just me tho. ^_^

For my 'best written' character vote, I have settled ...after some internal argument... on Samarra.
IMHO, she has the most convoluted background and intertwined challenges... A Fromarian who is a Royal Inspector...Challenged at birth by a prophesy...outcast & little trusted by some and then faced with an adopted daughter she's come to love and still knows she'll lose at some point and then has to 'put her life' in the hands of a punk kid she's had to train (and doesn't feel too sure about) are all elements that, I think make her the hardest character to write convincingly. Her wise-ass attitude helped me decide also.
I have a problem with the MC, even though he is the largest, longest most developed/changed character in that he has no real back story coming in and you have to 'make him grow' as he goes...so no, not him. And I could go on but since I only get one vote... Samarra.

No. And to answer the inevitable follow-up question: I'm not going to, either.
It's your baby, You do what you want. I'm pretty happy with it. It's a great game!
Don't let anybody tell you otherwise

If only I could make more happier. I hate to see the elf queen sad. The librarian girl, too.

All right, this thread has been quiet enough for a while due to the time it has taken to develop version 0.38, so let's see if we can't kickstart a little discussion.

Here's something I've never asked people about before: What character in this game do you feel is the best written? What does "best written" mean? It means whatever you feel it should mean. The best-realized character? The one that brought out the most emotion in you? The one who's writing really got your juices flowing? The one with the best quips? It's up to you.

I'm not asking about your favorite character here, only which one you feel is best written. I'm genuinely curious as I tried to add depth to all the characters in the game, even the minor ones.
Belle.

I think the music broke in my game.
There's very little of it now. I feel like there was music more often at the beginning. I still get some sound effects some times, I get the main menu theme, but in game I feel like music is missing (I might be wrong ! I just started the game, but it feels quieter)

Is this a known issue ?
Or is there music only for special occasions ?

The music is used sporadically, mostly tied to characters or events. You might be interacting a lot with someone who doesn't have much music associated with them. Also, most of your regular exploration on the map won't have any music. It's not a bug.

I see, I must have been intereacting with characters that had music at the start then, thank you for the response !
I'm loving the game so far, it's been a while since a game like this didn't get me bored to the point of skipping dialogue !

The writing seems pretty good so far, the characters make me interested in learning more about them, I'll be sure to review positively after I've put more time in the game but so far this is great.

Well done ! :giggle:

If I tell Samarra to shave her pussy, will I be able to tell her to let it grow again ?

I like the feeling of control I have over her on this decision, but I prefer the bush usually
So I want to ask her to shave for now, but ask her to grow it again after if it's possible

Otherwise I will just let her keep it

No, with any of the girls, having them shave it is permanent.

No, this would have become kind of weird with the bush suddenly growing out instantly (either right away or with a delay). Besides, the game takes place over such a short period of time that shaving and regrowing pubic hair is outside of its scope.

Thanks for the response, I'll keep the bush then !
I really like the commitment to consistency you have going on in this game, very refreshing

Until the MC discovers some magical spell to make bushes grow faster

Hello again ! :D

So, I'm trying to uncover Nell's secret, and so far I need to find something that contradicts Samarra's story.
The hint says to find someone else to tell me the story.
As far as I know, 4 people know this story: Samarra, Nell, The Fey Queen (if it's true) and Samarra's mentor (if she told him, which I don't know why she wouldn't)

Samarra is the story I have to confront, Nell is the one I have to explain it to, and the mentor is nowhere to be seen in the game as far as I know.

So my reasoning is: I just have to get to the actual Fairy Queen, and ask her if Nell is her daughter. Easy enough. Pretty straightforward, let's go !
Because whatever her answer, the problem is solved and that's the option that makes most sense from out MC's perspective if he already knows the Fairy Queen (even if he doesn't, he knows she exists and that he can have access to her, to it would make sense)

But... when I'm at the Fairy Queen's, I don't get the option to talk about Nell (only Sex Educatio, Taking About Prophecy, and Leaving)
Which is odd since she's concerned about not having descendants, and I thought this was the oppening to bring up the subject, but no

So... What did I miss ?
I figured asking the person supposedly involved in the story would solve this one, but it turns out it's not the case ?
EDIT:
So the info is given to me from the Prophecy choice with the Fey Queen. That's a bit counter-intuitive I think.
If someone wants to complete Nell's story, they would look to the Fey Queen to ask a direct question, not to discuss the prophecy that doesn't seem related to Nell (which in fact it is, but that's info the MC, and by extension the player, doesn't have at that time).
This could be added for a better flow of clues I think:

Fey Queen > "About your descendants..." > "Like I told you, I don't have any descendants" > "Not even with a human ?" > "You are the first human I have intercourse with, let alone birthed a helf-Fey" > GainClue: The Fairy Queen insists she has no children with a human

And then, in the Prophecy talk it could check if the knowledge is already in the Clues and skip the part that gives it to you in the conversation

I've been getting strong Wheel of Time vibes from this game since the intro text.
But as I'm reaching the end, those have been confirmed multiple times throughout the game.

I don't know if it's intentional and if the dev has read those books, but I definitely love the inspirations

Some I can think about from the top of my head:
- The intro text speaking of the story having no beginning nor end
- The Fomorian make me think of the Aiel (nomadic desert people that are in exile because of a Sin they commited long ago and that they need to attone for)
- The Royal Family being taught magic even if they are not talented in it, just because of traditions, that's also true of the Queen of Andor, she trains in the White Tower until she reaches a minimum level of proficiency with magic
- The MC having locked memories, a secret birth and some of his thoughts being locked from him make me think of a certain character that isn't alone in his head and has his memories tangled with someone else's
- And of course, the abundance of prophecies ! But I guess this is common in fantasy :D

Anyway ! Intentional or not, it's something I love in this game.
There is definite love and care for the fantasy genre and storytelling. I found myself more excited about the story events than the porn events as I'm reaching the end of the game (which lead me to miss quite a bit of story because I didn't go to the Leanan thinking it would just be sex, I barely managed to complete her storyline and the Crone's before the deadline because of that, crisis averted)

I never read the Wheel of Time series, so any similarities are accidental.

That's incredible !
I'm a fan of your writing in this game
It made me cry, laugh, made me pumped, sad but most of all it made me curious of what was lying behind the little clues you left along the way.

Like pulling a little thread that unravel the whole pattern by the end !
I dodged a lot of sex scenes because I didn't want to lose actions on something that wouldn't progress the story (I have barely started the Evelyn sex path, only the first night for now and I'm at day 56)

Usually when I play H-games, the sex is what makes me power through the story, just to get context and get some fun out of the situations.
But in your game, the story and the mystery is something I came back for.

You did an incredible job.
Congratulations
