I think this applies to almost every creator of a popular AVN.
The majority of popular AVNs are at semiannual updates meanwhile they pull in enough money to fund an entire studio for a year off of 3 months of income.
On top of that, the patreon funding model doesnt incentivize actually finishing a project at all. Dragging your feet extends the length of time you can collect sub funds from patrons.
Braid, an indie classic, took 3 years of development by one person. Some of these VNs have been running longer than that and 85% of their work is just posing pre-rendered 3D assets. Cant make it make sense.
ICSTOR is just blatant in the damns he doesnt have to give.
Everyone complaining... have you guys tried to start your own projects? Im sure many ppl here have free time and clearly there is unmet demand. No one here is unemployed or unhappy with their current job?
Im busy with my own business/site that started off as a hobby and excuse to learn (as I am suggestion in this post). It took longer than planned, was a ton of work, had many moments where I wasn't sure if I was just wasting time, etc... Although it will (hopefully) never be finished, I went public several months ago and have had amazing success (Just went over 10k/month from subscribers). If I wasn't busy with that, this would be a super fun project and great excuse to learn something new. Think about the downside (you learn something new) and the upside (you learn something new, do something you enjoy, and end up having financial freedom without being tied to a specific job or city since the work can be done from anywhere).
What are the biggest issues? The code is not difficult. I think the animation/art is the main issue? Does anyone know what program was used to create the animations/characters? I actually may start this as a side project for fun. There are many stock illustration sites which could help get us started. I just haven't been able to find one with x rated content or characters.
I could do everything other than make the actual animations/drawings. I could hire someone to make the animations/illustrations. It would be helpful if I had a bit of input/tips on where to find stock character illustrations that are for an adult audience. I looked at a couple of the biggest sites for that including shutterstock/istock and had no luck. Any ideas on that? I'll do the coding and pay an artist to modify/make the animations. I'm sure a ton of $$ could be made and worst case it will be a fun hobby.

It's all well and good to attempt to defend someone but IC's behaviour as of Milfy City 0.6e has been nothing but contemptible.
The time delay between 0.6e and 1.0 (he's skipping all releases in between) is OVER A YEAR WITH ONLY TOKEN COMMUNICATIONS at this point. He's had time in between the two breaks he's taken and his frighteningly short period of burnout.
Anyone who works is entitled to breaks. How does a break while not doing anything suit you?
Most of the people here that ARE being hard on him know he could do better if he tried. And therein lies the problem.
Have you paid attention to IC's history with game development? He makes good stuff - until he's past the 0.5 mark and suspiciously loses interest soon after and only sticks with it to make a rushed finish.
We're not being arseholes just for the sake of being arseholes. ICSTOR constantly touts new and exciting projects.
He teased Milfy Kingdom (AKA Project X) some time ago - and subsequently put it on hold while he finished up Milfy City. And this endgame part of MC hasn't materialised yet.

The neighbor and her daughter is the one that sucks the most, that is by far the most interesting storyline of them all with so many possibilities for some very hot scenes coming from it. And it ends exactly when it was getting to the bets part.

I'm not defending the guy at all. I think its idiotic to get this far with something, have so much support/love, and than not finish it. The guy is fucking up big time unless he is truly having a mental break down or some other issues he can't disclose.
The main point of the post isn't to be negative towards anyone but instead to point out a great opportunity for anyone not happy with their current career/situation in life. Even if he came back with an endless supply of content there would be plenty of demand. I have a degree in economics (that I never used) and over the years I realized that things that are "obvious" to me are not always so obvious to other people. I feel extremely lucky to not be tied to a job/employer and even though a big part of me expects this post to lead to nothing more than being shit on... I wanted to point out what I consider "obvious"....
This is such a great opportunity for anyone willing to take the time to learn some new skills.
- The demand is extremely high (0 reason to think that will change ... ever!).
- The supply is extremely low
- The competition is soft (majority of corporations or well educated people can't get involved in adult content because of the social stigma/consequences, icstor is the top guy? and no one else has the confidence to think they could match him or do better??)
- You don't need to invest a great deal of $$ (as in making a physical product)
- Its extremely scalable
I can code python and javascript. Have experience running a successful online business. Have a team of coders. Have experience with setting up llc's, taking online payments, setting up servers, marketing, seo, etc... If you or anyone else has the graphic design skills... pm me and maybe we can get something going. I'd happily pay an artist for content of the same quality especially if he can deliver regularly.
He is just famous, his game is not even top tier anymore, there are a lot of games here that are way better and icstor is running out of time, his dev mechanics are getting old and so are his renders each day this game lose quality and the animation are just a small loop, 0 direction compared to when you had the photo sessions with caroline before, everything is rushed, quality in decline and the writing was never his forte to begin with.
He is getting the big money but that would not last forever
What are some better games? (I tried to find them but had 0 luck finding anything that was the same quality.) Porn in general has not had ground breaking writing/stories... Not a big fan of the incest stuff but get why ppl are in to it. I think its mainly the taboo/risk of it which can also be achieved in other ways (teacher/neighbor/friends mom/co-workers/etc...) while still leaving the door open for ppl to mod stuff for w/e they want. I think its a bit unfair to suggest his work is bad in any way really. I'll admit that I haven't invested a ton of time researching adult games but this is by far the best I have played. The main issue is lack of volume right?

Sorry guys. Thanks to Willibrord who pointed me in the right direction. Realized there are many resources available on the forum as well as sites like daz3d.com for getting illustrations / finding animators. I'll go back to lurking now...

In 2017/early 2018 when this was first in development and released 0.1 there was nothing else like it render wise. Undisputedly blew away the competition. But you know what 3 solid years, 4 if you count pre-dev setup is a long time in computer graphics and rendering techniques. There are half a dozen other games out that at the very least meet Icstor's standard, if not exceeding it. It'll be very soon when newcomers to the genre wonder what the big deal is/was because Milfy City is old hat and tons of stuff looks even better. But hey this is all moot when the guy still pulls down Western Physician money in a part of the world where that's incredible wealth for delivering nothing.
And what little we have been shown of the guy he hired to do his job for him because he's too lazy or depressed or high or whatever the excuse is this month does not impress me. You can tell Icstor didn't do it right away and that's not a compliment.
