Too early, happy, continue at the last memory and then not, ends exactly where I left off the other day

wow, what a ripoff ending. you spent so much of the story toiling over the painful choice involved, only to completely destroy it. bravo, well done. I'm only angry because the build up of it was pretty well done and they you just decided to completely get rid of it.

this was a difficult play through. people who have issues with trauma and depression will have serious issues playing this game. and the fact the ending happened the way it did just kind of makes everything pointless pretty much. and from a twisted point of view it kind of sends a message of "dying is ok so why bother" almost. not literally just....really REALLY dark. it could have had a better ending to give hope i guess or something. not sure. just seems really depressing.

Created a gallery mod for the game. I added the phone and laptop photos to the gallery. Sadly the phone graphic is part of the phone photo. Let me know if I am missing any scenes. EDIT: updated mod to v1.0mab2 adding in missed deena scene.

The walkthrough mod is a bit more involved and is forthcoming.

One more bug. Will fix the bugs I reported so far in the walkthrough mod.

EDIT: Found a few more. I am getting the sense the developer ran out of steam near the end and decided to end the game without much payoff to the decisions made throughout the game.

That's what many of us have been saying for a while now...
Why do you want a walkthrough for a game where nothing matters? It's the most absurd thing I've ever seen, besides the ending of this "game".

This is much darker than John Constantine - no hope, no struggle, no payoff total utter darkness followed by painful death then total utter darkness or 100 years of absolute heart warming mind melting bliss+love+sin followed by painful death and total utter darkness - not so much upside one way or another.
I guess this is the modern version of the "Then I woke up and it was all a dream" ending
Why do you want a walkthrough
This game is somewhat sand-box -y - meaning that it does not have a quest tracker or a life line - like Dead space had to giude players towards the objectives once they were deep inside the missions where they would run around a designated area full of somehwat repetitive and a little too same looking corridors and rooms.

Which means that players need to get into a routine of always, day to day, check literally everything: the phone calls, the phone messages, the laptop emails, the laptop work program, the laptop e-meetings, the phone photos, the laptop photos - on top of scripted events where ,sometimes, the game would get into running on wheels where MC would just receive a call or gat into texting out of nowhere and a conversation would just run on the screen cut-scene style.

Sometimes, players get annoyed or distracted by so many different game mechanics runnig all at once.

but the outcome is exactly the same. the only choice you have is whether you want the girl added to your circle or not. everything proceeds forward on rails from that point forward.

Completed the walkthrough mod for the game. The mod has bugfixes for the items I mentioned in this post and this other post. This should allow some dialogue paths and scenes to occur as intended.

Let me know in the mod thread if I am missing any choices.

A final note from me, the author. What a huge undertaking this was for me. I'm glad I was finally able to complete the game. For those of you who are upset that the game did not live up to your expectations, I apologize. Like I've said many times, the game is flawed, because I am flawed. I'll say more in a spoiler:

Regardless, thank you to all of you who played. I hope you were able to enjoy something in it, even if it was hopelessly flawed. Coming from someone who battles clinical depression daily, it seems strange to not give a happy ending. But, I think sometimes we don't always get a happy ending and we have to try and find some kind of meaning in the cards we're dealt.

It might seem arrogant to mention, but for those who might be interested, I have started work on a new game. It will be a much less abstract and depressing game. Since it will be my second attempt at something like this, I hope I will have improved some. I should have more to share in a couple months. Until then, I wish you well.

I was kind of excited to announce that I am working on a new game. After taking some months off and then finally finishing my first game, I started enjoying the process again and so I have started story-boarding, character creating, doing early test renders and building out the shell script for the new game.

However, after seeing the feedback on the final ODS release I'm feeling a little disheartened. It's good to be humbled when you are a creator. To be reminded that what you are doing is not just for yourself, but for those who want to interact with what you've put out there. I'd like to apologize to anyone who was angry or upset at the ending. It was always meant to end on a bit of a down note and perhaps I should have thought that through a little better.

I need to remember to keep working on getting a thicker skin as well. :)

I will be putting up some polls here in a couple of weeks to give you an opportunity to help shape some of the plot lines and help you to be a part of the creative process. If everyone is amenable I think in a month or two I'll turn on donations again to help pay for my exorbitant utility bill when I start doing 24-hour rendering again. I'll check in with you before doing that though.

Thank you everyone!

My only major negative feedback was around the ending. I've already communicated my thoughts so no need to repeat. That being said, I'm interested in a new storyline!

All human beings have flaws, that sounds more like an excuse that you should have not given...
As I said before, the problem is not the concept behind the ending. We all knew that MC would probably die or something similar, that it would not end well... The problem was the poorly written ending, notoriously rushed despite having several months to plan it.
Very correct of you to pause your Patreon during those months, you are a very correct person in that aspect... but. The incorrect thing is to have a story (whatever it is) without a "closure".
Your thought of "MC dies and therefore does not know what happens next, and therefore, people should not know either" may be logical. But sometimes the logical thing is not the correct thing.
You build a different world, with its somewhat strange rules, but a world of its own at the end of the day. You fill it with characters, you make us believe that some are of utmost importance (the little girl for example?), you make us see that in the end important decisions have to be made (to take sides)... and suddenly the game ends and nothing matters anymore.
You forgot the most important thing. People need closure. It's a basic rule when writing a story...
Closure can be crazy and totally absurd (Game of Thrones), it can be badly carried out and end up feeling simplistic, like the creators ran out of ideas (Lost), but there should never be an ending without closure...

Because it's something super well known and was fashionable a few years ago. Marvel... Imagine that Tony Stark (IronMan), puts on the famous glove with the stones, says "I am Ironman"... and the final credits appear, just like that...
That's what you did.

If I was a better writer and a whole lot smarter, I would have been able to pull it off better.
*Looks at the drafts of a short story I wanna write* Heh

Atleast you have the courage and dedication to actually bring your story to fruition

Maybe start planning your next story from the end first tho:KEK:
