Is there a renpy port around the corner?
No, I've looked into Ren'Py and decided that learning a new engine, porting the existing game and then start working on new content will simply be too time consuming.
I want to finish the game in RPGMV and then I'll see whether I'm porting it myself or ask someone to do a port.
But that's still a long way away ;)

Just now reading this thread and damn... wish you the very best DrSmith. Don't know much about you but I hope you can deal with this situation in the best way possible.

Thank you for all the work that you put on RiC. It's truly one of my favorites.

Thank you for your kind words (and in fact thank you all that have wished me all the best the last posts) :)

I'm already going to one of the dedicated hospitals for lung diseases in my country and it works closely with an academic hospital.
I'm momentarily on the standard "cure" of Prednisone and antibiotics to force the cause to a stand still.
After that I'm relying on them to find the best approach to go from there (cure is out of reach, at least for this moment) and fortunately I have good insurance and health care is at a decent to good level here.
No way I'm going to try something (alternative) from the internet by myself ;)

Also starting physiotherapy and swimming to keep me as strong as possible.

There are still some things to sort out but my girlfriend and I have decided to make the best of the time I have left (be that 3 or 20 years ;) ).
One of the things that is giving me a good time, is RiC and I want to start working on it again when my head is clear of the clutter that the news and the drugs gave me.

As always: I'll keep you posted

As a fellow sufferer I know what you are going through (I have lost 60% of my lungs). It is a rare incurable complaint. Do you know what caused yours? I have IPF which means cause unknown but my doctors think feathers from duvets. Just take it easy is all I can say and be careful with exercise. The prognosis is bad but as they say here everybody is different.
There are two new drugs which are being pushed to stabilise the progression. I would never touch them as the side effects are horrendous.
It is unfortunate but that's life. Make sure you enjoy yourself and the time you have that is important.

As far as I can tell, it's IPF too.
There are several causes possible: smoking/vaping, stomach acid (due to a stomach abnormality I choke on stomach acid while sleeping sometimes and that's been over a 100 times the last 20 years), genetically (my mother has the same but only with 2 or more cases in the family they will call it genetical).
Never had much complaints earlier on but the last 9 months it really struck hard, lost 1 litre of lung capacity and 40% of oxygen uptake. Now humid days are the worst.
I plan to take it easy and enjoy myself, I hope you can do too ;)

That's the way it goes. It's a creeper. Strangely I find humidity fine. I go the sauna every week and heat does me the world of good. The steam bath is very good. I do have problem with pollution but luckily I live on the coast.
I find this genetical aspect difficult. Lung fibrosis is a "new" sickness. Thanks only to the CT scanner can it be detected which means the last 20 years at the most. Before then people died of a unknown lung disease.
I enjoyed your game btw. It is a great improvement on its similar namesake. I was a programmer for 25 years (yes back in the "primitive" times) but I could not start again.
Look after yourself. Dont over do the exercise. A walk of half an hour a day is more than enough. Physio's have to always justify their existence. I never trust them. Live healthily as you can and have a glass of wine. Cheers!

That could be a cause for me too: particulate matter (always lived near busy roads and doing traffic jams twice a day is also not helping). I enjoy the sauna but I steer away from the steam bath. Only when a large amount of menthol is applied, I can endure it (but I think that's mostly because of the sedating effect of menthol on your respiratory tract ).

I know, but the fact remains that my mother has the same ;)

Thanks :) And Iwalked a same path: mainframes and Cobol.

I already was warned by the doctor not to overdo it, so I'm in the 'running' for just some light walk and bike training.
Don't like wine but a case with 12 bottles of whisky just arrived last week, I think that counts too :p
And you too: enjoy your life within all moderation (although sometimes the rules can be broken ;) ).

Dear DrSmith,

what a terrible blow that must have been to get this diagnosis, I am so sorry.

I hope that you are living in a place, where also high-end treatments like Nintendinab or possibly lung transplantation are an affordable option. If you are not already you should consider finding a speacialist or a facility who specializes explicitly into this sort of disease. Quality of treatment is linked to the number of clinical cases treated at one place, and for rare diseases only specialized places (for example local university clinics) can offer that kind of clinical experience.

And please be careful or considerate in regards to alternative or complementary medical approaches and therapies (which don't come with any empirical proof out of a legitimate source and/or which claim to heal and help for everything or by the means of some obscure way of healing). Of course school medicine will offer only so much and one will be willing to try everything and desperate times call for desperate measures. But if push comes to shove and you really have to live on limited time (but at this point there is no reason to be pessimistic and expect that!) be vary of the temptation to waste your precious time (and money) on dead ends. The world and especially the internet is full of charlatans and well-meaning but ill-guided people who might try to influence you in order to do so.

Take your time to reconsider what is most important in your life (regardless of how long it might still go on) and focus on that. And as others have said here before - if RiC is not part of that, don't even think about it twice! You have given this community of perverts a lot (thank you for that!) and don't own anything to anyone.

Best of luck! C.

Went to hospital for a check up last week: lung capacity was stable although my oxygen uptake has dropped again.
I'm now officially diagnosed as IPF which means I'm entitled to have Ofev (Nintedanib) on prescription (fortunately because it's a hell of a expensive drug and now my insurance covers it).
Although the side effects listed on the leaflet are very serious, I'm giving it a try. Just need to keep a good check on things.

The exercises to increase my stamina backfired in a bad way: I've used my back muscles too much. Not too heavy, just too many repetitions and thanks to the DISH I also have, the muscles and tendons got damaged and now my back is hurting big time :(
Thanks to the prednisone I'm still on, I can't take any pain medication that's offering me some relieve.
It will be a long ride to finally get rid of that prednisone, I'm on a decreasing prescription but still 5 weeks to go before I can have something for my back.

Well, that's it for the moment. And before this thread turns into a 'Ask Dr. Smith' medical themed thread, I will post on RiC from this moment on ;)

Thanks again for all the support from you guys :)

Well, you're going the right way. Keep up training, eat healthy and try meditating which I'm doing everyday for 30 minutes as well. You don't need to learn anything just sit down somewhere in your home, close your eyes and think about nothing. Whenever something crosses your mind like pain, bad thoughts or even hunger and thirst ignore those and force your mind to the emptiness again. After 2 weeks you'll feel like a new person already i guarantee that and if you keep it up you'll do much better in training as well.

I'm sure you can do it and i hope you'll get better.

Hi, @DrSmith. I remember playing this game long time ago but failed to see the content matching
the "spanking" tag here of this thread, is it correct?
If so, please tell the moderator to remove that tag to avoid confusion.
Thanks.

Indeed, no spanking in this game.
I'll contact a mod ;)

There was also a 'bdsm' tag and that's also gone now, thanks to redknight00

Is it game abandoned?
Hmm abandoned, not sure. The dev DrSmith is suffering from a life threatning disease but has said he is working on it. Honestly though, he probably has more important things to focus on. I'd love it if this came back, but I'd say DrSmith should focus on his recovery first and work on this game if he needs a distraction or something. Also good luck with the recovery, Doc.

Anyways, sorry for the ramble. The game isn't abandoned but you should consider it to be On Hold.

Research Into Corruption has an error, you cannot save the game. there is no save file, and trying to do so locks the game.
