It's another game entirely remade from pratically zero so no save, but it starts with flashback from that ending

Yes it starts after part 1 and builds upon the story so it's highly recommended to finish part 1 first to fully understand the plot

A theory goes before the first shrine visit, Asuna's sex stats are only the ones Kirito knows about or with Kirito and after it is all of Asuna's experiences. Honestly the name this thread should be updated to say parts 1 & 2. Lots of people here already disappointed that the "update" was small but it's not an update it's an entirely new game. Stop thinking about this like an update and think of it as a vertical slice for a new game since that's basically what it is.
"Part 2" IS a separate game from "Part 1", yes. Once Part 1 ends, that's it for that game, Fujino has made an entirely new one with revamped maps and such for Part 2 taking advantage of the fact he kinda HAD to because the previous game was getting a bit too big for RPGMaker I think, so while it directly follows the storyline of Part 1's ending, it is technically a separate game.
