I'm deciding the entire thing is no longer worth it.

I'm mostly done with a stripped-down 'final' version to keep my promise to Ravager devs and not use their stuff unless I credit it, and I don't feel like spending another hour or two porting the credit system over for nothing. I'll take one last deep look at things tomorrow, but right now, I wouldn't bet any money on there ever being a new public release again. What I might do for myself two years down the road, who knows, and who cares.

Edit: 'Final' means the current release + HF3d, minus all the Ravager assets I could find. I am sorry if you took this to mean 'final update'.

lol, I was looking forward to a new update for a long time, I know there were changes coming down the line.

I think it was a good game and the only sticking point was future new content and opening up Jotun availability.

any chance we can talk on DC? I feel like you were doing good work on this and the brothel king project, I would really like to pick your brain, I have my own ideas I would like to try and maybe you would enjoy them if I execute.

DDM is abandoned as of right now.

I'll merge the current hotfix and main release, prune all Ravager stuff and make a 'final' download in a few days. Unless there's a game-breaking bug somewhere, that's it. See here.

My apologies to people who provided good, entertaining or thought-provoking feedback; brainstorming, and a generally positive atmosphere. And have been patiently waiting for an update incorporating said feedback. I appreciate all the mod-related talk, and I still think I got more out of the whole enterprise than I put into it. But there have not been enough of you lately to offset the negative stuff and my generally growing feeling of guilt about not working on the mod instead of having fun with other things.

This whole mod started as the exact opposite of 'get players, milk them for money, add more digital dope and keep milking, fuck meaningful gameplay' that's been gaining more and more prominence in the last decade+. In fact, pretty much all mods start that way, and largely remain niche because they cater to a specific need, one that commercial developers are unwilling or unable to fulfill (and the video does a reasonable job of conveying why that is so).

I was not getting paid, meaning I could care less about total player numbers. And all the emotional payoff I got was slowly but surely moving towards negative.

I was still on the fence as of a few hours ago. This last (Edit: now censored away) post sealed it. F95 as a whole doesn't want the mod and isn't able to appreciate stuff they get for free. Which makes any further public activity here pointless from my personal POV. If I ever get the urge to share anything again, I'll think long and hard about putting it here. I will not be doing it here.

I'm kind of disappointed by this, but after seeing what's happened I can understand the turn of events. Yes, maybe the game is a bit difficult at early levels, even if you tweaked the files or used console. But honestly, that was always part of the charm for me, at least in regards to feeling as though you've well earned those higher levels through the gameplay.

I'm sad that we won't be seeing any new content for this, but I can tell that you've pretty much been pushed to your limit, a point which any person really should just get up and walk away for their own benefit. So, thanks for putting all the effort and work into something that, as niche as it is, is really enjoyable.

All right, now it's censorship on top of everything else as well?! I'll ask for an explanation, but unless it's a good one, forget about a maintenance release. The current stuff stays up for the weekend, and then I'm really done with the whole thing and retracting any copyleft for F95. Not that this has ever stopped piracy, and I'm a filthy thief myself, but the bar will no longer be "we're flying under the radar" but rather "we're openly flouting the author's expressed wishes".

Auto-crafting was added in one of the last updates. Giant lair rates I never got to, but it's not that hard to e.g. 3x or 5x the numbers yourself. Murloc village was ever only half-finished due to waiting for whales.

I don't think it's part of HF3d. The latest release is probably this.

I'd lower 'regen' as well, or you'll run out of lairs pretty fast. Maybe something like base = 20, regen = 14 for a plains castle, and scale everything else accordingly. This is comparable to the 'laundry' girl event, which is not too rare.

It's sad that it will be abandonded, but I understand you. It's really not a good atmosphere to get constantly blamed for things you enjoy, just because some people like to torture themselves with stuff they don't.

I showed this game to my brother who hates smut and is marathoning the game ATM constantly asking me for tips. The game gave me and 4 of my pals a lot of laugh as we were discussing the game in front of them.
I hope sone place will host this game still.

The drama is about me deciding the emotional payoff I get from interactions in this thread - which is pretty much all I get in terms of 'payment' - is too negative to continue devoting my free time to making the mod public and supporting it.

Whether I'm continuing to host the mod and related miscellanea here will depend on how F95 staff respond to my inquiry about censoring half this page. If they feel this is normal and I can go pound sand, I will. And then I'll
I ask everyone not to repost the mod here. If someone wants to do it somewhere else that's not exploitative, I don't object. So not one of the ad-based pirate sites, either, but e.g. Ulmf, Loverslab or HHS would be OK for now. That's all theoretical ATM, of course.

Edit: And since 4MW asked me not to use Ravager assets unless I credit them in appropriate places, any further hosting by non-assholes would also have to remove those.

Edit2: Right now, it looks like the censorship was site policy, so I'm discontinuing the use of F95 as a publishing option. This means I will take everything down to kill off the public version of the mod here, and thus avoid any temptation to come back or new and improved versions of Karaghul coming in and drawing me back/trolling me again. Because I don't see this ending well for me otherwise.

It's not final yet, but if I were you, I'd start to 'back up the game like some vintage pornvid before the internet' if you want it to stay in your collection. Too late.

I hope i will hear of you in the future elsewhere. I would have never tried out Ravager, your mod made the original idea substance. Difficulty for a game is the most important element, and that is what captivated me and my brother. ATM another one of my pal started the game up. The fool is trying to search for the least evil way to play the game.

I will let site staff give their final response first. But in all likelihood, I'm abandoning this thread completely, and would like this thread to become locked. I doubt I'll get that request granted, but we'll see.

What it means short-term and long-term, I'll think about when I've heard back. Most likely I will try to avoid punishing players as much as I can, so maybe I'll make a 'secret' release merging all the posted fixes since HF3d. Then people who have not aggravated me too badly (the vast majority of you here qualify) can ask for a link in PMs as long as nobody betrays my trust and leaks the link here.

I'm probably not abandoning the mod altogether, but I doubt I'll pick it up again before summer. If I get another playable version together again in a year or two, I may consider posting it somewhere else with a smaller ratio of trolls and less heavy-handed management. Maybe I can use HHS, if the bestiality can be made to fit there, since the user base is relatively mature, moderation is low-key and people can handle escalation and de-escalation. If not, I'll look around and see. My first inclination was Ulmf since there already was a Defiler Wings thread there, but LoversLab is probably bigger. I don't have a very good handle on their forum culture, so I'll have to do some research first.

I hope i will hear of you in the future elsewhere.

I guess playing on easy, keeping a low profile and only using captives tamed via imprisonment and robbery (i.e. the non-haughty ones) might be it? Maybe only eating wild animals and fighting mountain monsters for XP, like some kind of Dragon Ranger?

After talking about the censorship with the staff and doing some soul-searching, I am discontinuing the mod wholesale. OP updated.

There will be a 'final' version available upon private request to people I know or who are vouched for by the same from Monday to next Monday (15-11-2021). It will be suitable for further modding as it'll include all the changes posted in the thread since HF3d, including auto-crafting, the 'Drink Milk' button and more. It will also remove all Ravager assets I could find as to uphold my agreement to either credit Ravager or remove them. This means all Ravager girls, quite a few sounds and all the smaller movies. Privately re-adding the first two is easy if you already have a copy of the mod. The movies were a gimmick anyway.

I am sorry it came to this, especially near the anniversary of the last release. I really should have seen it coming. F95 is just too big and too wild for a highly personal mod like mine.

I am taking a break from all this, and would appreciate it if this thread went into hibernation once any immediate fallout is dealt with. Use the guide thread for further discussions and helping other players.

I'm sad as well, but I am not able to go on like this. I'll take the time, see if I recover sufficient interest in the mod. Might take six months, might take a year, might take three, might never happen. If it happens, I'll see if I can find a more friendly home for the mod. If not, I might come back and set more stringent guidelines for myself and for taking feedback. We'll see.
