I'm pretty sure it works just fine there, but you must be a little more specific with the issue if you're looking for a helping hand.

it's timing, took me a few tries to perfect the timing for the fan to keep both my pathway open and the snake pathway open to the frost cube

For me the difference was switching from using the mouse to the keyboard arrows. The mouse moves and turns you automatically. Using keyboard slows your down just enough for the timing to be right.

You can complete puzzle 14 without pushing that fan. Your way works but I don't think that is the intended way to solve it. xD
