wow you haven't read a single thing said before on this thread
"half the content" because 100% of the quests and scenes but without like 5 out of like 20 or more character skins and penises available is half the content cut
you don't get more scenes for paying $10, you get exactly same scenes, and you don't seem to grasp the subscription model
"money making machine" if you checked the thread, you'd know that the devs ditched their jobs for this and now they're just above breaking even, it's a 5 person team
they aren't milking anyone, the updates are consistent
you're complaining on a 3 month delay between updates in one version in an industry where half a year of radio silence tends to be a norm at times
you don't seem to realise that developing games costs money and time
this game aims quite high, so it's gonna need a lot of that
big games from big publishers have their budget laid out before the work even starts, so you pay for a finished product
but this isn't a game from a big publisher, and the devs need money to do things like staying alive
The internetisforthis seems to say otherwise, "In the Steam build, yeah. In the current Patreon builds MC can be male and there are two sex scenes specific to said male MC. (One M/F, one M/M, both in the same place.)"

Funny how you both contradicted yourself, you said "without like 5 out of like 20 or more character skins and penises available is half the content cut. you don't get more scenes for paying $10, you get exactly same scenes".

Fucking liers.

The Patreon version is updated twice monthly, the Steam version is updated once every three months. Every update has all content added prior, with the exception of a few cosmetic items that don't get added to Steam. The last Steam update was in June. The most recent Patreon update was a week ago. Unless you expect Patreon updates to have literally no content, there will be discrepancies between the two until Steam updates again.
But YOU said, It's literally just a few variants of the oversized cocks that steam is missing in the latest comparison, from what I recall."

I NEVER said there were no differences in content, YOU did. You replied to me when I said that steam buyers didn't get the same amount of content patreon people have with that bold-faced lie.

Don't invalidate my statements with your own when yours are completely false.

Then steam will ALWAYS have less content than patreon users till the game fuily releases, my point still stands, why buy it right now? It'd be better to come back in a year or more when the game's half done, no need to buy a game you'll always have less content in(Until the game's 75% finished at least).

Okay, let's break this down very, very simply via a timeline.

June 14th, 2021: Version 0.2.5 releases for subscribers who pay $10 monthly. This version has all prior content plus new content.
June 14th, 2021: Version 0.2.6 releases as a hotfix for subscribers ($10 and above) to fix user validation issues.
June 14th. 2021: releases on Steam ($30, once). This version is directly equivalent to subscriber version 0.2.6 and has all included features and content (except a few specific cock variants), including some quick fixes of things Patreon subscribers found that morning.
June 14th, 2021: Version 0.2.7 releases for subscribers ($10 and above), which includes additional hotfixes.
June 30th, 2021: Version 0.2.8 releases for subscribers who pay $20 monthly. This version has all prior content plus new content (including playable males).
July 21st, 2021: Version 0.2.84 releases for subscribers who pay $10 monthly. This version has all prior content plus new content.

This is how their update cycles work. When a Steam update hits, it is directly equivalent to the Patreon update that is out at the same time. Patreon is now several versions ahead. Different versions of the game have different content. The next time they push a Steam update, it will be directly in line with whatever Patreon build is current at the time that update is pushed.

Because Steam updates less frequently, there will be discrepancies as a result of the two being snapshots of the game at different points in development. We are not lying when we say the only difference between Steam and Patreon builds is the omission of some cosmetics. This is not mutually exclusive to Patreon getting more builds than Steam, either. It just means there are fewer points of comparison because the builds are only 1:1 every three months.

The developers have explained this. They have explained it on . They have explained it here. They have even explained it on their own website.

In the three months it takes for Steam to get an update, you can pay: $30 once on Steam to get all future updates at a slower rate. $30 on Patreon ($10 monthly) to get one update a month until you stop paying. Or $60 on Patreon ($20 monthly) to get two updates a month until you stop paying. Long term Steam is 100% the best investment for a player who is looking for maximal value. Short term, if all you want is whatever is current, the best investment is a one-month $10 subscription. But that subscription only ever nets you one specific version of the game unless you keep paying.

Edit: It looks like the cosmetic system upgrade from version 0.2.5 (Patreon) was omitted from Version 0.2.3 (Steam) due to stability issues that were eating items. So that update is not as 1:1 as the prior Steam update was. The good news is that the devs have officially stated in their discord that they plan to push an out of cycle Steam update this month due to the fact that they originally wanted both Patreon v0.2.5 and Steam v0.2.3 to have human males, but weren't able to squeeze that in until v0.2.8. That update is likely to be in line with either the current v0.2.84 Patreon release, or the subsequent release due by the end of the month.

Speaking of subbing once (in a while), how does that work with their silly DRM? Do you keep the last month you bought or are you always renting the game now?

You could always re-sub 5 or more months later once a better version comes along. Then do it again in another 5 or more months(The game would probably be 45-50% done). Or don't buy it at all, that's probably why you're here.
It's nice of you to assume that I don't have money to buy games. I wouldn't have known about this game at all if this board didn't exist.

This is exactly why I haven't bothered subbing. There are two versions of the game to pay for and nothing is explained upfront from where I've looked so far. A few posts here have pointed me in the right direction now though.

You'll be able to play the same version you downloaded indefinitely - until you reinstall your OS or otherwise lose some data the launcher stored in your AppData folders. (Backing up that folder and carting it along to a future OS install will allow you to continue playing the same game version even then, but the data is personally identifiable and thus isn't something most subscribers are willing to share here due to the risk of getting banned from the Patreon.)

That said, depending on specifics of the implementation, logging into the launcher after your subscription lapses might lock you out of playing. I haven't poked at that enough to be sure.

I think stuff like this is what is causing so much confusion. Having a separate version numbering system for different platforms causes more problems than it solves.

I think they did that in this case specifically because they had to roll back the single biggest component of v0.2.5 for the Steam build due to stability issues that were deleting items. (Specifically, the upgraded cosmetic system that unhooked bodies and skins from clothes so that clothing types could mostly be worn regardless of what body and skin color/pattern the player had equipped.) It's a massive feature and they probably wanted to be clear about the difference. Patreon never actually got a v0.2.3 build, the last announced update prior to v0.2.5 was v0.2.

And since their two major selling points for Steam sales are a single payment for multiple updates, and improved stability, that was kind of a thing they had to do for it.

And for no reason other than it's relevant, issues I, personally, have run into with the aforementioned cosmetic system:
  • Headless character
  • terrifyingly broken textures
  • multiple overlapping body meshes
  • tail-less dragon character
  • many, many cosmetic items lost to the void
  • "ghost" skins where the body is displaying cosmetics that aren't equipped
I've seen other issues reported on the discord, but these are what I've personally run into in my own game.

Thanks for laying it out! I'll probably end up buying the game sooner or later(As I said, I've always wanted to play a Conan exiles game with sex), but at the moment I'm not too confident that the game is worth it. I've been on edge after wasting money on Cyberpunk(I have too much pride to refund it)and I don't want to feel too disappointed if this game flops.

I finally checked this out today and I'm not optimistic. Character models look good, features are at least basically functional, and the dearth of actual content is to be expected from what's essentially a proof-of-concept early access. It's the direction I'm really concerned about. The system of changing race/sex/anatomy via the inventory makes the PC a non-character, a chameleon for the player to shift to fit any situation; it feels more like an engine for watching CG furry porn than an actual game. To give half a shit about the story I need a stable player character to get attached to. The ability to customize your character and unlock parts throughout the game is not inherently bad, it just can't be so easy. That makes modded Skyrim a much more attractive option for me, even if this game were ever completed.

And on that note, I'm fairly certain that their team lacks the manpower and experience required to properly capitalize on the financial support they're receiving. 0.2.3 may be way behind the patreon builds, but looking at the changelogs since (plus the new scaled-back roadmap) it's clear that they're not keeping up. That's not to imply bad faith on their part; I only question their ability at present to put funding to its best use.

I'm not trying to be a downer, those are just my thoughts. I'm definitely keeping an eye on this project and I hope they can make the best of this game going forward.

I would definitely suggest waiting or trying out the earlier builds before paying for it on steam, they're still hit or miss at the moment and only time will tell if its worth.

What's the difference between the normal version and Steam version?
If you're considering buying the game, the difference is that Steam users get less frequent, bigger updates that are sans a few patreon-only cosmetic items while containing all other content released on Patreon thus far. (With exceptions when stability is a concern.) Patreon users pay a subscription for smaller, more frequent updates and a few bonus cosmetics, plus a small degree of control over the game's creative direction.

If you're asking about the downloads on this thread, the steam version actually works while the normal version is a patreon build that nobody has fully cracked the DRM for, and thus probably won't work for you.

Hi all,

We're here at last, bringing with us the first implementation of many camp systems, a boatload of new weapon variations, and a whole host of crafting materials. We've managed to make up for a lot of the time lost to staff sickness, though we'll be the first to admit that there are some things we'd love to have implemented already if we'd all been operational. We're a small team and so when two of our number are down it does have an impact, but despite that we've delivered a chunky feature-heavy update.

The addition of crafting to the game brings with it a plethora of new kit, including multiple variants of our Khopesh, Longsword, Spear, and Daggers. Not only can you shape metal into weapons, but the very bones and teeth of your enemies can be fashioned into vicious implements of death (that will soon deal the upcoming "primal" damage type).

02.png

As the game creeps towards including more RPG features, our enemies now drop new lore-relevant crafting ingredients ranging from various types of Essence to everyone's favourite Writhing Grubs. Some ingredients cannot yet be used, such as the Reptilian Pelt, however they're needed for things that are already in the works.

03.gif

The Camp now features the first handful of customisation options, allowing you to choose your Tent, Bed, Follower Housing, and Monument. For now these are purely cosmetic changes, but many will shortly be linked to NPCs that wander your camp (Follower Housing) or the tier of NPC that will roll in the sheets with you (Bed).

04.gif

With the addition of Khaba's audio, the main quest up to the final stage of Diamond in the Rough is now fully voice acted. More quests, including main quests and the next boss-fight, are currently in-development.

Finally we've taken on board the tidal wave of votes, including the famous Bread V Sweat straw poll, and overhauled our roadmap top to bottom. We not only looked at the winners but the runners up and all areas of interest, factoring this into our new full-time schedule. We'll publish our rearranged roadmap in the coming days, but for the time being please note that the current one is out of date; August is now focussed on Character Customisation, with Dynamic Sex the next priority.

We want to thank you all so much for your support. We've got a decent chunk of the "normal game" content in and can now focus more on quests, sex, customisation, sex, and sex for a while. The community continues to grow and we're still listening and watching (and echo is stacking the references document full to the brim with tonnes of the art posted in the various channels - damn that Tiger Demon Chick...).

We love engaging with the community and we're constantly looking for more ways to get you all directly involved in development, so keep an eye out for polls and discussions in the coming weeks. Again we truly appreciate the support for our unwell team members - they're both back in the saddle now though so we're firing on all cylinders and mixing our metaphors like never before!
