The game explicitly started with four developers (Echo, Gargleham, Z, and one other whose name is escaping me at the moment). They've since brought on Bob as an "Associate Developer" and Pelorix as a writer, . They also hire out for assets, mostly in the form of animation and voice acting. Those are also credited separately and appear to be working on a commission basis or similar rather than being direct team members.

So while there are more people whose work has gone into the game, the actual development team is very, very small.

As for sources of funding, substar plays second fiddle to Patreon by quite a lot, and Steam is one-time purchasing and thus has a significantly lower impact than Patreon for similar reasons.

And no, the Steam sales probably vastly outdid their patreon earnings. I think you seriously underestimate how much money direct sales make if your game is even remotely successful. However, Patreon is definitely far more sustainable income and probably does influence how they plan things more, especially if you're drawing things out.

And they're certainly favoring patreon subscribers over Steam purchasers, that's for sure.

Regardless, every point I've mentioned remains unchanged from my perspective. They have way too little done given the amount of time and money they've had, but what else is new there either. Seems to be the standard for western indie ero games.

It's a very important distinction to make in this discussion though, because the only people making actual decisions are the people I specifically mentioned. And pretty much all of the flaws in this game's development can be traced to a very specific problem with that core team:

They don't have any dedicated programmers or QA. At all. It's very clearly self evident with the specific issues they keep having. All of them are tied to basic programming and QA that programmers would do just while verifying their work. The overwhelming majority of bugs this game has had over the years revolve around programming and basic game logic, such as not saving relevant data (thus losing it on reload), not resetting all data when loading (thus allowing one save to corrupt others), not handling UI properly (thus causing softlocks, item duplication, item loss, and item corruption), etc.

Not to mention all of the issues resulting from not doing quests via precisely the one sequence of events they were implemented for, despite being an open ended game.

I admit, I underestimated their sales numbers for Steam. SteamDB estimates a bit over a hundred thousand sales, which for the timeframe the game has been available on the platform for means steam income for them is roughly on par with Patreon income, since a few thousand subscribers paying once a month every month for that timeframe also adds up to quite a hefty sum. Figuring out which is more would require access to data that we just don't have due to Patreon's variable subscription prices.

Patreon does have a clearer impact on development, like you mentioned. Aside from dropped Patreon features like character requests that they were doing back in UE4, they typically allow Patreon polls to dictate development priorities and just let Steam users have what comes to them.

I saw this game a while back and thought it looked good and even more promising than Wildlife though I'm not a furry.

I wanted to support but didn't have means so just watched from afar. I've got the means now but not willing to throw cash at dev's if it's not my style so came to f95. Thanks for share and my chance to preview.

Maybe I'm totally wrong but this is not at all what it appears to be. Sure lots of furry that's obvious... but why do Dev's hide their game style behind paywalls? JUST SAY IT!

played for over an hour now and several major questions and disappointments
1- Character is formless at start, ok... I'm thinking a prologue quest will bring me to some sort of character customization. So I keep playing and playing... are character customization's looted clothing and body parts? WTF!
- So to get the character I want to play I have to cheat and search out specific locations?
2. Huge open world that looks really cool but I'm aimless and running around (only open quest says "look for survivors")
3. Consensual non-consensual roleplay is described as a selling point, but not implemented? And that's only after I scout(DL) the game.

Could someone please explain or link me to an ACTUAL description of this game and gameplay? So glad I didn't support dev's if this is what I would have bought. I hope I'm wrong, but ready to delete game and never revisit. Maybe it's because I got the UE5 instead of 4 version.

AT this point this is my description of this game:
"A game designed around an ancient and formless spirit that utilizes ever changing body parts and transformations (for whatever reason) whom also enjoys consensual sexual relations with other hybrid beings during the course of their journey. The beginning is as mysterious as the purpose as you search this giant sandbox for new transformations and clues, oh and beware the kitty poo, because life is like a box of chocolates you never know what your gonna get!"

Anyone dealing with certain bugs in relation to quests (repeating the final dialogue in prodigal son and the quests you already completed showing up on the maps + being able to get duplicate hermit items?) and map icons not showing up like certain fireplaces?

Played the Unreal Engine 5 demo last night. The gameplay is mid at best but plenty acceptable for a porn game. However the intro goes on WAY too long. I kept waiting to be allowed to play a sexy character instead of a dumb mummy. And this intro just goes on, and on, and on......and on. Killing mostly the same enemies over an over. And two whole boss fights before you finally get to character customization. They seriously need to condense that intro. Or just do away with the formless thing, and have you start as a regular Human.

That said i'll give them points for optimization. It runs well, and unlike a lot of 3D porn games it doesn't try to overheat my PC.

Because if they ever read something about gamedesign, they forgot it next second. I write about it long ago when they changed engine - ambitions without understanding. It seems thing didn't get better in that aspect.
From what I see, starting as formless should make you thirsty for some sexy action, make you kinda desperate, but the way it is implemented - meh.

If I'm not mistaken there's more than one cistern in that area, maybe you're trying to get inside the wrong unteractable one.

They've been updating their private testing repo on Steam for a while now, . The repo named "vukan" is not publicly accessible and appears to be the one they use to verify and test Steam builds prior to releasing them. It doesn't mean we'll see the update soon, but it does indicate work is being done on it.

I know about that build, and we know they're working on the Steam build. As it's coming this month.

Oh, I'm fully aware that it's been in progress and that there's no news from them aside from the delay to "mid October". I just wasn't sure anyone had shared the SteamDB link + depot info here before, and figured it was relevant to mention that it can be checked and that it isn't accessible to non-developers yet.

Romance, DSS2, Fishing Improvements, Controller Support, Gilded Fold & New Quests

The next Major Content Update is here! Bringing our new Dynamic Sex System 2, Gameplay & UI improvements, world expansion, controller support, new quests, new lore and more!

At the end of this Content Update post, there's also a dev blog showing off what we've been working on with DSS2.


Opting in

Until there is content parity with the Unreal Engine 4 release, the UE5 Preview will be available via a Beta Branch on Steam, to access this latest update, right click on the game in your library -> properties -> betas -> click "ue5_beta". Dynamic Sex System 2

The goal of DSS2 was to bring you greater control of the scenes, with dynamic interactions, a more streamlined process for us to make new scenes and freecam. Along the way we added physics, new cum, jiggly bits and more!

Romance

Romance is in the air! Damaris now has the next phase of her romance enabled, adding around new 200 lines of dialogue between herself and the player. Players will now be able to not only give Damaris that first kiss she so desires, but potentially go significantly further with the shy barmaid (should they play their cards right). As a bonus, there's now also a mini-romance with Mera, in pleasure villa. new Romance NPCs Available:


Art Improvements/Cock Tints

As a part of DSS2, we had to remake all of the body system and skins, you hopefully won't notice much difference right now, but this will allow us to use the new cum system, upcoming sweat and wet changes to characters and the new "equipment" tints.

Dong Tints & Dong Skins

Dong tints are back in the game and they should match up much much better with all of the skin choices, this comes along with a new Dong Skin System, giving you more choices!


Clothing Improvements

A new clothing improvement comes in the form of new bulges in the clothes based on the current dong you have selected, show off your bulge in the Anubite Skirt, Inquisitor's Garb or Slaver's Finery.


Fishing Improvements/Rework

Fishing wasn't as fun as it could be, you could only fish in certain spots and the loot was limited, so we've given it a bit of a rework. After completing a short fishing tutorial with Moswen, our resident Fisherman, you can now fish anywhere with deep water.

If you fish in a Fishing Pool, you're guaranteed that fish as loot, but if you fish in open water, who knows what trash you'll find?!

p.s. You can now sail a boat into the middle of the Euphoris, stand on top and fish away!

Trouble in Pleasure Villa Mini-Quest


Pleasure Villa in Ikenni Village was introduced in the last update but the squabbles between Safiya and Tabu along with the pleasures of it's inhabitants were locked until this update. Complete this mini-quest to unlock new sex scenes with a handmaiden and unlock Mera's mini-romance.


Gilded Fold

The gilded fold will receive some updates and get more populated in the coming update, for now we've trimmed the hedges and added a couple of new interactions, more to come!


Graphical Improvements & Performance Improvements

We've noticed a performance improvement with moving to Unreal Engine 5.4 along with our own optimizations and changes as we always do, we hope you enjoy the extra frames!


UI Updates

The Form Unlock and Cosmetic screens needed some major updates and they've received a face-lift and a functionality update along with some bug fixes.


Controller Support

With this update we've added Controller Support to the game! This is a long overdue accessibility and playability change that we really pushed for this update. It's a little rough around the edges right now in the Sorcery Screen and some menus, you but can play the entire game now with just a controller!

Please make sure that you turn on Controller Mode on Steam, or you will default to a Keyboard + Mouse as Valve Still doesn't think the game has controller support until we make UE5 the main branch.

Settings Fixes & Keybindings Updates/Accessibility

We've worked hard this update to bring you three major settings updates:

  • The settings system should work much much better
  • Keybindings should now be available for almost every major action in the game
  • Glyphs are now dynamic for keybinds on the UI


Dialog Bug Fixes/Changes

The most common issues that kept occurring with our NPCs being un-cooperative and getting stuck on certain dialog has received a major update which should prevent this from happening in the future.




We added a long-requested feature with the update in the form of "Toy" support with Lovense, sync up your toy with the Android/Ios/Windows app, enable Lovense in the settings and you'll have synced up fun with all of our existing DSS and DSS2 scenes.

We'll be improving this in coming updates but this should support all toys. We've especially focused on the and the in DSS2, trying our best to match the movements up with the DSS2 animations.


Dev Blog - DSS2

We've had to do a huge amount of work behind the scenes to improve our characters and systems to support better and more dynamic sex scenes, including a new body system, physics and more, so we thought we'd share with you what we've been up to!


Expressions & Deformations

As things stood, our characters were too wooden for our liking. To remedy this we've given characters an additional set of morphs, widening the range of what's possible in terms of facial expressions and interactions. This also goes for "pole meets hole" interactions, where openings will now visibly deform to accommodate various sizes of insertion.

Jiggly Wiggly

In order to make the adult content itself more dynamic we've implemented various physics based elements on top of our animations, allowing things to bump and bounce more realistically. This also means that we'll be able to accommodate various interactions which weren't previously possible.

Total Camera Control

We've now implemented a new "freecam" system to allow you to view the interactions from whatever angle you choose. You'll now be able to click on whatever part of the scene they want to focus on and rotate/zoom/pan around this point. In some scenes, there's also a POV camera mode, so you can really get into the action.


Happy Endings

Finally, all this time after we lost the "messy finish" cosmetic, we've got dynamic "mess" working within the system. Now any external climax has the potential to make you (or your partner) messy. It's not a "smoke and mirrors" system, so where you finish is where the mess goes. With the physics interaction this means that each time will be slightly different.

Mess builds up with successive contacts, so you (or your partner) will eventually end up very sticky unless you bathe.

Open Wide

Those of you who keep an eye on the will have already seen that we have created new mouth interiors including tongues. Characters are now able to extend tongues for... various purposes.
