Is it possible to go train with the Crone after getting the initial spells from her? The story says to use both spells and then return for training, but I don't see an option to do so later. Is that not in yet or am I blind?
she is.This update was my first play through of this game and really enjoyed it liked the look and writing. Looking forward to seeing how this one goes also from now on when I play The Witcher 3 im going to pretend Belle is my companion
I'm sorry you felt that way, but I'm honestly not surprised to see that kind of opinion pop up about Primrose and how I've written her. I expected her to be kind of controversial, and I guess you are proof that I was right. This update didn't feature anywhere near the entirety of Primrose's content. We're just beginning. What was here will serve as a framework for future expansion. Rest assured that there is more story to be told and a stronger connection to the main story than might be apparent at first. Having said that, not all girls in this game will be directly relevant to the overall plot.but the story of primrose, it was just...bad?
It's not in yet. I plan to expand the Crone's content in 0.3, so you should see the first steps of your training then.Is it possible to go train with the Crone after getting the initial spells from her? Heh, I think Belle would have liked Geralt. This update was my first play through of this game and really enjoyed it liked the look and writing. Looking forward to seeing how this one goes also from now on when I play The Witcher 3 im going to pretend Belle is my companion
That's the end of Primrose's current content, yes. You bring up an interesting point though. Would you have preferred if I printed a message on the screen to inform you that you've reached the end of a character's content in the current version of the game, or should I keep it like it is now?So I've returned the books from Primrose's father and started molesting her in her sleep, as well as reading all the books I've returned. Is there anything else to do, or have I reached the end of 0.20?
I'm not happy that there is so little lewd content in this update, to be honest. Ultimately, this game's primary focus will be porn. To release an update with so little fap-worthy material feels counterproductive in a way, but I can't get around the fact that I need to set up a foundation before we can get to the good stuff.I think I made everything in the update (at least I got every picture, I might have lost a clue like last time, but I don't think so), there wasn't anything really very sexual in it, and since it's the beggining it's fine in my book, it was building up for the next updates and we even got the first character improvement points (even though we can't do anything with them yet I think).
I'm truly sorry about that. There are so many different opinions about systems like these, and no matter what I go with, someone is going to be disappointed or even upset. Ultimately, I had to go with a system that stays true to myself and what I want to make. I know how I play other Ren'py games with rollback. I try one dialogue choice, see how it goes, rollback and try another, and then go back again and pick the one I liked the results best for. All the while I hate myself for it because good choices are about what leads up to a decision, not about what you may know about what happens after. I made the rollback work the way it does to keep players like myself from ruining the experience for themselves. The backside is just what you describe: A misclick can have dire consequences. But isn't that true of just about any game anyway? With the change making "Previous choices locked" to me is kind of a game breaker. I just chose an answer by clicking to quickly and I am stuck with the consequences. To be honest, I just exited the game and played something else rather than starting over again... :idontcare:
Let's be honest here, who wouldn't like Geralt?Heh, I think Belle would have liked Geralt.
the emperor.... (muhahah this bastard)Let's be honest here, who wouldn't like Geralt?
Nope, actually this is something that's not true for almost all games.I'm truly sorry about that. There are so many different opinions about systems like these, and no matter what I go with, someone is going to be disappointed or even upset. Ultimately, I had to go with a system that stays true to myself and what I want to make. I know how I play other Ren'py games with rollback. I like that you cant back track makes you actually have to think before you click and not just fast click through the text which is good as this is really well written and would a be a shame to skim it.Okay, let me get a couple of things straight right away because you guys seem to be making some arguments that don't make sense in the context of what kind of game I'm making.
What non-porn (and non-Ren'py, just so we keep some lazier designs out of the equation) games can any of you mention that allow you to backtrack to make choices all over again without using saved games? Games with time-traveling protagonists don't count. Can you name even one?
The main reason you feel the way you do in this situation isn't that you want to cheat, per se. That's just another symptom of the larger issue. The big reason is that most porn games are poorly designed, their authors far more concerned with their story and graphics than with gameplay mechanics. "Choices" in most porn games mean that you are given a series of options where one option is the best one, with the rest being gradually (or binary) worse. If you pick the wrong option you are going to lose out on sex scenes in many cases. That's not the kind of game I'm designing. If I ever write choices like that, call me out on it, because that means I've been writing without thinking. Choices in my game(s) are there to be actual choices, not to be a quiz that determines how much content you will see. They determine the path the protagonist will walk through the game, with different choices leading to different scenes. There isn't a right path and a wrong path, at least not one determined by those kinds of choices.
Don't look to porn games when thinking about game design. Look to "regular" games instead. Let's take the two main inspirations for LLtP: Persona and Ace Attorney. Both those game series not only don't let you step back to redo choices, they even take deliberate steps to make save scumming less attractive (though Ace Attorney loosened these restrictions somewhat with the last two entries). Persona doesn't even let you save unless you are in designated save rooms, and you can sometimes play for more than an hour without being given an opportunity to save even once.
If you misclick a choice and complain that you're not being allowed to rollback and make it all over again, then I'm sorry to say that that's on you. Most games would never let you go back like that anyway. At most a game like Persona might ask you, "are you sure?" before going through with something of significance. LLtP allows you to save anywhere, anytime. You can save scum to your heart's content, and I will never restrict that (though I'm hoping to include an option where people who like such restrictions can start a game with them).
This is not something I do to prevent "cheating." Such a claim relies on there being a right and a wrong choice for you to take, and that rolling back would let you pretend that you made the "right" choice to begin with so that you don't "lose." That scenario is meaningless in LLtP. I restrict rollbacks because I want each choice to be meaningful. I want the player to think before he clicks, not click, observe, rollback, and click again. I also don't want to punish players for taking one choice over another.
The complaints about this feature reveal a misunderstanding about what I'm trying to do and a long-lasting problem with the game design behind most porn games, to the point where people now expect porn games to be poorly designed and want tools to combat such design themselves. I'm telling you that you won't need such tools when playing my game because I don't intend to make it poorly designed. There's going to be a long road to get there, and I will surely make missteps along the way, but that is what iterative development is all about.
Feel free to disagree. I'm not trying to appeal to absolutely everyone out there. I have a vision for what I'm making, and that's what I'm following through with. There are far too many thoughtless porn games out there already. I'm trying to do something different with mine.
And I hope you follow that path. The game in very good and has great potential, especially is different, something that is a fresh breath in adult games.Feel free to disagree. People don't read. Belle is explaining that since the thread was created. Over and over. What would change a long description posted? Nothing, if people don't read.in my honest opinion
Belle, i think you should take a time, like a full day, and create an big loooong description of the game, his mechanics and all.
to get everybody a perfect straigth point of whats you going to do, what never gonna cange, what can change and some second view possible ideas
a big long explaination that will make everybody mind clear .
