Thanks, which configuration file is this in?

I usually use Unren to enable the console. It's only had a problem with enabling the console in only a few of the Renpy games I've used it on (Pale Carnations Ch4Up3 was one, but Ch4Up4 wasn't). When it does, just go to \[game folder]\renpy\common\00console.rpy around line 106 or 108 iirc and change config.console to True.

I'm starting to think that the main reason Edwin got the job wasn't because Ian requested it but because Chuck was fascinated by Victoria (she saw how he looked at her and it made her uneasy) and wanted a decent chance at corrupting her / fucking her / fucking with her. We know he has a thing for sick games and what better opportunity than having her son being compromised and a perfect target for blackmail. I can imagine Chuck going to Victoria and saying: you will be available for our pleasure or we will destroy your son's career. I doubt she would refuse.

Being sick man that he is Chuck will organise a masked orgy where Edwin will fuck Victoria not knowing it's her, leaving everyone broken in the end, just like he did with that golf instructor.

We know Chuck cares about Ian, and I suspect that, like Grace, he recognized the MC as a tool that could break Ian out of his fuckboy rut - his plan was just a lot more effective since he is a much better manipulator and knows Ian much better than Grace. The fact that Chuck finds the MC mildly interesting in his own right sealed the deal.

I think with chuck's games its like this: corrupting < ... < humiliating < feeling superior/powerful/in control

would fit with his words to abel that its always about power/ego (?)

I agree that it is more probable that Chuck took Edwin into the boat to get Ian to "wake up" from his funk. Chuck cares for Ian and Edwin in his own way.

I think you underestimate the danger Chuck is representing. He is not just into humiliation, there were already too many hints in the game is a torturer at best, a murderer at worst. Remember, Dalia is deathly afraid of Chuck, Sophia, hardly a damsel in distress, but a dangerous woman of her own, finds Chuck scary. Chuck is obviously disappointed that even if he should ever win over Sophia at Chess, he cannot maim or leave anything permanent done to her since she is too useful, too good in her work. It is very clear that he did something permanent to his other victims.

Dalia, like Sophia, has her uses for Chuck and the Club. So he held back. It is rather clear by inference that e.g. his golf instructor was not so lucky.
I too am curious what exactly chuck does. As written in an earlier post, I think he is a torturer who maybe also kills the women where he does not need to hold back. Remember August´s talk with his friend Otto. He mentions that he´s worried about Chuck and Kath´s mental state and actions. That they get worse!

We know that Chuck isn't a fan of violence, he prefers more sophisticated methods of dealing with people. We know he "broke" some of the women he interacted with but we will probably never learn what he did because any explanation TD might come up with would be too far-fetched and unconvincing, hence it's vague like that.

I agree with you that TD most probably wil only hint at what Chuck did, the own fantasy works better than descriptions sometimes, but I think you underestimate Chuck´s potential for violence. He is obviously disappointed that he cannot maim Sophia since she is too valuable, but for example the golf instructor was not.
As I mentioned before august is worried what happens in his circle and that Chuck and Kath´s deeds become worse.

Since august in that scene with otto also mentiones that he has to go behind chucks back to deal with people violently I kinda assumed he means that chuck and kat start to lose it in regards to their passions. If that means extreme violence?

Maybe chuck DOES make a difference between using violence to solve problems and using violence for purely arousing reasons...

But I doubt it. Iirc there hasn't been a incident of violence against a woman in the game aside from the warren x prostitute hints - which where presented like a case of genocide. TD seems more interested in psychological sadism, so I would assume chuck is in that line as well.

Hope we find out. Chucks one of my favourite characters.

Also I hope the Hana GF route will pay off in the future. besides very little changed lines and missing scenes there isn't anything different so far (now i need to manage 3 parallel playthroughs though because I'm unsure about my "canon run" )

I think the Hana GF path will reap some nice fruits in the long run, don´t fear. I have 3 "canon" runs, one for Hana, one for Felicia and one for Sophia. In the hope we get her as a late LI, since our MC and her fit well togehter depending on our choices - nerd power for the win!

Currently I have the Hana GF path where I was also on Felicias and Minas path but ended those. Then the exact same one with Hana as FWB and continuing Feli and Mina. And a third “perfect” one where I just try to max the carnation stats and get other scenes.

But now that I think about it maybe I should make another one where a different person wins the challenges (although I’m not sure if the game will go much past the challenge month so if it really matters that much) and also one creep / super-loyal-to-club one where its just max sadism.
