VN Ren'Py Abandoned Summer's Gone [S1 Steam + DLC] [Oceanlab]

I am seriously losing interest day by day even though dev logs are coming. see you at the release.

Yeah for me games with a super long dev cycle just kind of sit on my watch list with me pretty much assuming they're abandoned until they prove otherwise. If the dev has a history of massive updates that I have to wait a year and a half for that's fine. If I have to wait 2 years for a minor update then it's basically a dead game. So whether the dev cycle is long or short doesn't matter as much as the amount and quality of content produced per unit of time.

A more frequent dev cycle is better if the quality and quantity of content is identical, but I would take a longer dev cycle over a shorter one if it meant content with more depth and/or quality (which it frequently does for the best long dev cycle games). You can't do a big, in depth update in a week. It's just not possible. So a game with a super short dev cycle is almost always going to a less complex story. It could still be good, but it's less likely to be a story intensive game.

This game hasn't had an update in so long that I don't even remember any of the story (I've only played through 1 version of it and only once). I seem to remember thinking the quality was good, but where's the new content? So I still have the game on my watch list but I'm not really expecting to ever see an update.

A) Ocean, after the move? Although I'm not sure he had a separate room for his rendering rig before.
B) I hope you're joking, but I've actually heard from more than one developer that it was simply impossible to work in this heat this summer. Ocean is no exception and also mentioned this in his logs, although he didn't seem to pause rendering.
C) Bro, you're setting the bar at the level of the most successful solo developer, developing one of the most profitable AVNs and with the best hardware. I wouldn't be surprised if he rents a server room exclusively for his rigs. I assure you, among indie developers, he's the exception rather than the rule. Ocean has excellent hardware, but it's nothing compared to DPC's stuff.

Speaking about rooms and rendering, Ocean said once his neighbors complained about the noises from his stuff at night or something right?

It's comical. I mean, hahahah. Tbh, if I was the neighbor I would have bourned something because I love the quiet and calm of my house

Poor Ocean, that shit makes the room hot af for sure, in summer that have to be horrible... And poor neighbors too.

Maybe Sasha is not Summer but something is defenily going on with her and it is implied that she may know Nika from before. So maybe she also knew Summer. The Nia thing was not hinted at and Summer was a big part of her life, I never was much a Summer fan but I am becoming curious as who she really was. We have a very collored view of her from Nika.

I have to ask you, and anyone else who's ventured into an Oceanlab game: is there any evidence of an actual outline or narrative blueprint?

It seems glaringly obvious that the characters just free-associate based on the immediate scene. This 'write-as-you-go' approach is the root cause of all the jarring inconsistencies and the relentless verbal diarrhea that floods the script.

Not to mention the endless rewrites, retcons and remakes.

But of course he would deny it. You are with the wrong mindset it. The lack of prove is in itself prove when you belive it enough, Ocean is distracting us of his biggest plot twist after the revelation of Nika's parent. Hence Ocean saying Sasha is not Summer confirms that they are the same person, you just need to look at the right angle, squint your eyes, turn up side down and maybe, for good measure, expand your conscience with some hallucinogen .
